...and then the snow came

So I took the photos in the previous post at about 9 this morning. It is now a little after 5 in the afternoon and the ice has turned to snow. They thought we would get 2 to 4 inches, I think that we are at about 6 already and the snow isn't supposed to stop until midnight. Having grown up in Los Angeles and then living in Seattle for 10 years these huge swings in weather are keeping me on my toes.

Ice Storm

School is closed today because we had an ice storm last night. The weather around here is crazy, it was 50 degrees and sunny two days ago and this is what we woke up to this morning. The same ice is all over the roads so no one is going anywhere today.

Family Sunday

Between weeks of bitterly cold weather, and Robert having to travel for work or my shutting myself up to write we havn't been able to have a our traditional family Sunday in a long time. Today we walked to our favorite diner and stuffed our faces with oatmeal and waffles...

We stopped at the park on the way home to run,

and slide (Robert's hat was a Christmas present since he had mentioned several times that he loved Gray's jester hat.).

Then tonight at dinner we were listening to some music and Gray and I were chair dancing. He was being so silly that I was cracking up until I realized that he was just copying me. No one can show you how goofy you really are as your kids can. Sigh!

New Years in New Orleans

We spent the week of New Years in New Orleans because Robert's little sister Megan and her fiancee Chai were married at his parents house on New Years Eve. I had never been to New Orleans before so I was really excited. We did quite a bit of sight seeing and even more eating.

Gray's favorite part of the week was riding on the Street Cars.

Having Beignets and coffee at Cafe Du Monde in the French Quarter.

Walking around the French Quarter.

Muffuletta and Po Boy sandwiches for Robert and I. Spaghetti and a lesson in tongue curling for Gray.

Megan and Chai's wedding. Our first Buddhist wedding was beautiful, fun and a little confusing since most of it was in Thai :)

New Years Eve on Burbon street (Sorry for the bad picture, I took it with my phone because I did not want to drag my camera along that night).

Touring Plantation houses outside of New Orleans.

Christmas in Tulsa

Did you have a white Christmas? We did. Most of our immediate family came into town for the holidays and we all headed out to dinner on Christmas Eve. By the time we started for home it was practically a blizzard. For the first time Gray was old enough to understand what was going on. We made and decorated cookies for Santa. He was the first one up of course and played with the Fire truck that Santa left him until everyone else was up and ready for presents. It was a great Christmas for all.

Coming Soon...our New Years in New Orleans.

Gray's First Movie

Yesterday my mom and I took Gray to his first movie theater movie. We saw the Princess and the Frog and he made it through the whole thing. I didn't think he would but, except for getting a little antsy during a few slow parts he watched the whole thing. Of course the popcorn and chocolate covered raisins were a big help. This is exciting because Robert and I have always loved going to the movies and have not been able to go in the last 2.5 years. I have a feeling we will be seeing every cartoon that comes out for the next few years :)

Gray's room

I am scrambling to get a few things finished around the house before our family arrives for Christmas next week. Yesterday our handy man came and finished hanging up the airplanes in Gray's room. The walls in this house are really difficult to drill into, and forget hammering a nail into them. In order to hang a picture a hole has to be drilled with a special kind of drill that punches as it drills, and then an anchor and screw have to used so it won't rip out of the wall once you hang something. So for now here are pictures of Gray's room all decked out in it's "Things That Go" theme.
