Sesame Street Live

Sunny days, sweeping the clouds away.

Our big event for the weekend was attending Sesame Street Live at the BOK center.

Gray said that Cookie Monster was his favorite.

But the binoculars were the biggest hit of the day.

Tulsa and the Crazy Weather Fairy

You are all probably sick and tired of me talking about the crazy weather here in Tulsa. Sorry, here is one more example.
Last Friday I was wearing a t-shirt and flip-flops.

I took this picture on Saturday afternoon right outside my kitchen door.

And then this afternoon, yes Tuesday afternoon, Gray and I headed to the park...

That's right it was 75 degrees and sunny and not a flake to be seen.

Is that messed up or what!?!

My Brown Thumb?

I have thought of myself as having a black thumb for a long time now. It is a running joke in my family that orchids will die just crossing the threshold of our house. So, I am very excited that the lemon tree that I bought and potted last summer has actually produced lemons! Yeah!

This has given me some confidence. So when Gray watched an episode of Dragon Tails in which they planted carrot seeds and suggested that he wanted to try it I said yes. The seeds are in the pot and we will have to see how it goes.

Hello again.

I'm sorry to not have posted in awhile but this is where I have been living most days so there hasn't been anything very exciting going on around here. I am currently swimming through the pool of retinal physiology and rod signal processing (in case anyone was interested). Next up is an attempt to explain the difference between equating stimuli for photopic vs. scotopic light levels, Whoo hoo! Can you tell I'm getting a bit loopy? Okay, back to work.

Meg and Chai's Wedding (Take two)

Our main reason for going to LA was to attend Meg and Chai's second wedding on Valentines day. The ceremony took place at the beautiful Wayfarer's Chapel in Palos Verdes. Gray was the ring bearer and did a great job of walking slowly down the aisle and then sat reasonably quiet for the ceremony. Robert also gave a very nice speech to represent the Thomas side of the family. Thanks Aunt Megan and Uncle Chai for including us in your beautiful day and for giving the family another reason to all get together.

Disneyland

We spent a long Valentine's Day weekend in Los Angeles. First, let me appoligize to all of the friends that we would have liked to visit while we were there. Robert and were in the middle of recovering from a really nasty bug and ended up spending a lot of time just hanging out at our hotel saving our energy. We did drag ourselves out to meet my dad (Grandpa Tom) at Disneyland (we would of felt like awful parents if we hadn't). Gray's favorite was the Buzz Lightyear ride (surprise, surprise). He was amazingly brave and up for anything, including Pirates of the Caribbean and the Haunted House.

Boys will be boys?

Along the lines of nurture vs. nature today made me think that love of video games must have a strong nature component. We don't have any at home, I don't know that Gray has ever even seen one before. Today we went to see a movie and they had a room full video games. Gray was mesmerized and I couldn't get him out of there for half an hour (ugghh).
